NBK HISTORY

NBK was created in early 1997 by MC MAGIC. While working working on music for his second album he collaborated with various and upcoming artists in the Phoenix area. After all the music was recorded, the piece sounded more like a group project, so Magic decided to name the CD "Nastyboy Klick", "Tha First Chapter" after his independent record company, Nastyboy Records.

The artist that were featured on that CD were the original members... MC MAGIC,DOS, Zig Zag, Sly, Bookie Loc, and Mischief (Magic's 10 year old son at the time). On the intro of "Tha 1st Chapter" were also mentions of extended members "L-Dog" (who co-wrote and co-produced a couple of songs)and "DJ 2- Swift" (who did all the scatching on the CD). Also DJ 2-Swift is credited towards helping start the klick. He introduced Zig Zag and DOS to Magic.

Almost immediately following the independent release of "Tha 1st Chapter", Bookie Loc left the group to persue his solo career with Folife Records, leaving NBK a five member group.

The first single "Down For Yours" (featuring Roger Troutman) got so much attention that Nastyboy Klick had offers to sign a major recoed deal from sevral companies within weeks of its release. After negotiations were done NBK signed with Glassnote/Mercury Records. The single "Down For Yours" topped out on Billboards Rap Single Chart at #10 in the nation, and sold over 100,000 copies. The second single AZ Side "Everybody" did well regonally, but not stir up the same attention which "down For Yours" did.

By January '98 the NBK excitement calmed and the group found themselves a"back burner" act. After the contract renewal option wasn't executed by the Glassnote/Mercury team, NBK became free agentsonce again. The guys took some time off for personal stuff and to relieve some of the tension that build up after spending so much time together on the road trips.

Meanwhile a few radio staions were starting to play "Lost In Love", a song which was noth part of "Tha 1st Chapter", but it was still from the Nastyboy family. Mr. John Lopez, President of Upstairs Records in San Jose, California heard the song and immediately reserched the group. At first NBK refused, but Mr. Lopez was so presistent and convinced NBK to regroup for the "Second Coming".

The Nastyboy saga continues with the first national single "Lost In Love" which hhas already captured the ears of some nice markets. October 27th 1998 was the release of the "Second Coming" impacting with 15 tracks of the "Nastyboy" sound.
